Your reaction to Mischa’s DUI

by Arieanna on December 29th, 2007

As an update, TMZ is reporting that Mischa Barton blew a .12 on the breathalyzer, smoked pot that day (by admission), and had prescription drugs in the car in an unlabeled bottle.

What is your reaction to Mischa going to jail?

You can add your own answers to this poll if you have them. I know that Mischa Barton’s DUI and drug charges shocked many people. But how do you really feel about it? Was it a mistake? Does she have a drug problem? Are you disappointed?

I am a little shocked and sad, but really just concerned. I am always amazed when people drink and drive, celebrity or not. It is very irresponsible. And doesn’t seem like the Mischa Barton I know. But, she is very strong and has a very strong support system, so I am confident she will come back with a much healthier attitude and life. It’s just unfortunate that it took something so big to make that happen.

I know this has probably been said many a-time before, but I am incredibly disappointed with Mischa. I never would have grouped her in with Linsday and Paris…but now it just make sense. =(

Toivottavasti Mischa ei ota mallia mistään Paris Hiltonista tai Britney Spearsista tai Lohanista mallia, koska se vaan pilais elämänsä siihe. :/
    Mischa ROCK!

I think exactly like the fan that has added the longest comment.
I think that we could suspect she was using drugs so much earlier, weren’t there more than one picture of her smoking?
I am still a fan, but I hope she understands her big mistake and corrects her attitude.
Till now she was an exception, she was different from all the Paris-Britney-Lindsay-Kates, but now she is just like them..
The right thing to do now is admitting the mistakes and changing.

Mischa talks about having a sense of responsibility to her fans. It’s at the 3 minute mark.

Guys ok MIscha Barton made a stupid choice, and she has set herself up for a lot of scrutiny. However she is a person she makes mistakes, and yes that comes with being human. I hope she learns from the mistake, but most of all I hope everyone just gives her another chance. I am disappointed, but I kind of saw this happening. I am not surprised since this is relatively norm in hollywood. I just want the best for her, and I will always be her fan.

GARY: She could’ve KILLED someone. Just because DUIs are “common” in Hollywood, doesn’t mean that what Mischa did is okay. I don’t support that kind of behavior and just because I am (maybe ‘was’) a fan doesn’t mean I’ll make excuses for her selfish and immature actions. What will she learn? She has to know that she let down tons of fans that admired her and that she’ll have to work hard to earn their respect back. Myself included.

She did drink alot on the OC. She was basically an alcoholic. Mischa Barton drank and drove on the show. Obviously she was going to suffer many consequences after the show.

Ok lets back track what I said was that I am not surpirsed cause this is the norm in hollywood. In other words it really does not shock me. I am not making an excuse for her, but I just hope she can learn from her mistake. What she did was very stupid, and that is going to be on her mind for the rest of her life. I think it should be pointed out as well that going to jail for however long is nothing compared to a life long struggle to acknowledge what she did. She has to live with this for the rest of life. Yes she could have killed someone, that is the really sad, and unfortunate point. Look as long as she learns her lesson, get help with whatever is bothering so much for her to go out and do something so careless. Then get help for alchohol and substance abuse is all that matters.

And then there’s Mischa-Mischa-Mischa! We’re simply stunned you were busted for a DUI and possibly possessing weed this weekend, and we’re sure your mom, Nuala, is, too. After all, it was your mommy who furiously emailed us after we ran a sighting of someone who looked an awful lot like you frequenting a medical marijuana doc’s office. Mama-bear Barton was way growlin’ that we would dare associate her angelic offspring with the aforementioned weed joint. In fact, the pot-selling place the Mischa doppelgänger was spotted at was on La Cienega and Santa Monica, which is right around the very place Misch was pulled over. Just a tad ironic, doncha think?
Something tells us Ms. B is praying for such small-potato pothead hijinks right about now. Shouldn’t have pushed your wolf-crying (sorry to screw up the animalistic analogies here, everybody) karma there, baby.

    ..
    everyone makes mistakess.
and everyone has to live with themm..
    even Mischa.
yea sure its a shock to me,
    but im not a hypocrite,
b.c i have smoked weed too.
theres ussually a reason why someone will do those thingss.
but jus b.c Mischa did this dosnt mean,
that she isnt trusted as a role model .. b.c she still can be , even though she smoked pot, got a DUI, this means she can show ppl that it’s not good, and to learn from your mistakes??
    im sure she regrets it..
    cuz after all .
this could ruin many things in her life right now.
    :)
try not to hold too much on Mischa.

Too bad about this happening to Mischa! I gave up driving after this happened to me, and though it was a casual lapsing/tossing the license away issue that took a couple few years, it fit in well with the statistic that 90% of all arrests involve a vehicle.
Which reminds me to tell you, Mischa, that when it happened to me, I stuck to my guns on the plea (they wanted me to change it). I threatened to change judges hearing my case if they wouldn’t let me enter my plea.
One of the things we have or had in common was the charge being ridiculous, I was charged with going around a corner on two wheels in my case, which is not only absurd, but practically impossible. I notice you had some silly straddling the median strip. That looks like the thing to me to advance your cause or position/ win your case. (What else isn’t true?, perhaps)
As I am recalling, calling the Army which was doing the second half of my military duty a little bit fit the piece as well as any of “it’s the little things in life”. That in development with passing up a drink to win enabled me to go that one word that it whittled down to, in my case, TWO. Of course I went around the corner, on wheels (but 4 wheels). You can see the importance of doing your military duty, and include that you have done it a little bit when possible about your Army/Navy in addition to your Selective Service registration which I am guessing you have received the card for.
They don’t rate how well you come out on these things, but I paid no fine, and they had to release me. It was not a DUI charge though.
Sorry that 2007 is over and my surplus business is exhausted. I am also just guessing you got that $10,000
    bond mentioned.
My experience is also where I realized I had to do the second half of my military duty, it hit me at the bottom. Consider there is a 26 year level, a 35 year level, a 60 or 65 or 70 year level, and a 100 year level.
