Mischa Barton was Killed Off in the OC Season Finale
On NO! This was the saddest OC episode I’ve ever seen! I’m going to miss Mischa Barton’s character SO much:
Fox’s "The O.C." closed its third season Thursday with a deadly twist. Marissa Cooper, played by Mischa Barton, was killed in a car crash.
Barton’s character was central to the show, which follows four wealthy Newport Beach teens through the emotional ups and downs of high-school life.
Barton was already a familiar face when she began starring on "The O.C." in 2003. She worked as a model and appeared in several films, including "The Sixth Sense," and TV’s "Once and Again." She is also a spokesmodel for Neutrogena and the Collection bebe clothing line.
Rumors flew in recent months that she was ready to leave "The O.C."
Earlier this week, Barton told "Access Hollywood," "My character has been through so, so much and there’s really nothing more left for her to do."
Barton, 20, has a film arriving in 2007, "Guilty Pleasures," and other projects in the works.
Marissa’s death came at the end of an otherwise upbeat episode.
The class of 2006, which includes Marissa, Ryan, Seth and Summer, graduated from Harbor High School. Seth and Summer were accepted by the same college. Ryan was reunited with his mother, who gave him a Land Cruiser as a graduation gift. Marissa’s mom gave her a pearl necklace, while her dad gave her an opportunity to work with him on a yacht set to sail around the Greek islands.
Ryan was taking Marissa to the airport in his new SUV when they were antagonized at high speed by a drunken and vengeful Volchok, who they both had a history with. Volchok swigged from a flask as he chased the pair in his car.
Ryan lost control of the Land Cruiser and crashed, the vehicle rolling off the road. He pulled Marissa from the wreckage just before the vehicle caught fire.
There, on the side of the road, she died in his arms. Via Yahoo

i dont think she should have been killed off. i understand if she wanted to pursue a movie career or such however i think the show’s writers should honestly consider having her in a coma or something so she can guest start on the show every once in a while but she doesnt have to be a main character. That way she can still pursue another path, and the show can keep the ratings up with the fans they have always had. Mischa was a big part of the show and if they really kill her off they will lose tons of fans.

Seth and Summer weren’t accepted to the same school, he is going to a school in Rhode Island near the school she is going to. Seth is going to Rhode Island School of Design in January, Summer was accepted to Brown University for the fall.

i really dont no how they are going to carry on with the o.c .if marissa dies !omg !she just cant! It wont be worth watching yea seth and summer are entertaining an all but marissa has always carried the main story lines. I dont think she should be in any accident at all i think maybe the o.c writers could do a stroyline of her living with jimmy leaving the option open of a return in the future! This really is a outrage!lol ! The o.c is my favourite tv show of all time so was friends untill that finished dont ruin another one! pleasssssssssseeeeeee dont do it! Keep her alive!

I have to correct you on one thing that was written about this episode. Seth and Summer were not accepted to the same school, she was accepted to Brown for the fall semester and Seth was accepted to a graphics arts school for the Winter semester because he applied too late. As you may recall, Anna helped his do this in a previous after he was not able to get into Brown. Haha I cant believe i retain all this information.
I am pretty bummed out about Marissa leaving because she brings a certain dynamic to the show that will be hard to replace. Although “Caitlin” her sister is obviously going to step in and become the scene stealer I just dont think it will be the same.. I predict the entrance of many new characters and many different twists.
Lets hope “The O.C.” can survive Marissa’s death!

omg i hope that is true! Ryan and Marrisa are so meant for each other. they totally fell in love at the very beginning of the show, and they have just gone threw so many obsticles that they couldnt overcome. Julie, Oliver, Trey, etc….. i seriously was devastated when i watched the season finale, i actually cried. Marrisa is my favorite character and she has got to stay alive, for ryan’s sake and mine…. lol

i dont have a link for the scripts. I have 2 4.01 script and one my friend from England sent it to me called the awakening and she lives amd the other my friend from Italy sent me called the never forgotten and marissa dies in that one. I believe the awakening becuz it seems more real and the never forgotten has spelling errors and i dont believe kaitlin would say or do some of those stuff. But the ppl i have sent it to, some says its fanfic that made it up. But i hope its true. I dont want marissa to do.

I’m from Australia and we have 5 more day’s until we get the episode played here. I can’t belive she die’s that is the biggest disapointment all year for me. I love the OC and i’m actually so devastated that she is going away for good. What will happen to OC the show will never be the same again it was about those 4 (Summer, Marissa, Ryan and Seth) people and now the main girl the main actress the one who spiced it up Marissa is gone forever. I can’t wait to watch the last episode i will have the tissue’s ready.

OMG.. we love the oc.. we were late in watching but we watched all of it and i cant believe that Marissa is gone.. like honestly.. come on from what i know most of the kida that i know that watch the show are not going to be watching it anymore. the thing i dont get is that they already had marrisa going away on a boat with her dad did they really need to kill her.. i think that there are a lot of angry fans out there.. and i dont think that ill end up watching the whole 4th season not with out marrisa being in it.. like she brought all the drama and made it interesting to watch..

I think that the producers of the oc, really screwed up… They really shouldn’t of killed off Marissa, LIKE WHY’D YOU GUYS DO THAT?? i really think that marissa should have died.dont get me wrongi loved her heaps but i mean she had already done everything. the next thing she possibly could have done was become like a witch or something, being like the only thing that she hadnt done yet and that would have just ruined the show. but they need to change the theme song. cos i was so ready to cry at the end but then they changed the theme song to a not so sad one, like in 3rd season they had that slowish one and then they changed it to that shitty fastish kinda one. it ruined the mood. also marissa should have sed something like “i love you” when she died to ryan, then i may have balled my eyes out!! lol

2day was the last episode of the 3rd seas0n here in Greece…i actually cried when i saw marissa dying in Ryan’s hands..but also i was crying in the whole episode[graduati0n..in the model h0me where the first hanged out] i’m s0 depressed but hey!!! mischa is preparing s0me great projects n0w for her 0wn g00d
