Mischa Barton gets in a car crash at the end of the finale, with ryan, cuz volchok pushes them over a slight cliff. Marissa “dies” in ryan’s arms. they show flashbacks, anddd when season 4 comes, marissa won’t be dead. they literally won’t have a show if she’s not on it. even someone who hates mischa barton would agree. she makes the OC.

Im Mischa’s cousin. It turns out she actually didn’t die. Ryan rushed her to the hospital and she was saved! She is actually going to be on for the next 4 seasons…..through college. She and Ryan are going to go to Berkeley together and get married. And when she was in the hospital recovering they found out she was pregnant…but the kid died and Summer and Seth break up and Seth gets wiht Anna. And Summer takes Marissa’s place on the ship and falls in love with Jimmy Cooper. Dr. Roberts cheats on Julie with Kirsten….and thats episode one!

There were tears and the speaker said they try to cope with what happend. So no, your story doesn’t fit or make sense. I feel very betrayed as other people out there feel by Josh. How can he after three long hard, depressing, emotional, fun, heartbreaking years kill off the number 1 character that made the show it’s very own. one hour before the show one of my bestfriends msged me saying that she knows who was gunna die on the oc!! and then she told me it was going to be marissa…i wanted to die. there is no way this show is going to survive without marissa….bc that means ryan’s character is gunna go to shit since everyone knows that they were soulmates and would have ended up together in the end if she wasn’t FUCKING KILLED OFF!!!!!! now whoever ryan dates everyone will just get angry because it isn’t going to be right. this was honestly the hugest mistake mischa and the producers could have made for the show. i am an avid and loyal oc fan and so is my bf and now i’m so depressed that my favourite show is never going to be the same. i am so angry i don’t think i will watch it past the first episode of the 4th season…i just want to see everyone’s reaction and marissa’s funeral….and there is still a little bit of hope in me thinking this might be a publicity stunt and she might really not die. lets hope. :(

this is whats gonna happen…see we have 2 rumours…the fact that mischa barton is leaving oc would be devastating..it would’ve made much more sense if like summer died but it would be ekualy pathetic…there is to be said mischa is gone forward with her career on movies…but as we said..mischa did say she signed at least for the 3 seasons..i wouldnt think that the producers would go on and kill a so important character and simply fill in her with any slut that they can put..marissa has a chance of coma, like yeah right dEE says..but some part of what he said is true..marissa cant die simply like that…that episode was just for you to keep on watching the 4th season because they knew romours like these would spread..personally i dont know what to believe

another fact…see…kaitlin cooper is going to high…theresa has a baby of ryan’s (which ryan will have to find out somehow)..but..on the 2nd season..theresa told her about the baby for a reason..because the producers knew that this conflict would be a hit to ryan…but what’s supposed to be most a hit is that ryan was supposley hat to go through with that with marissa..you know their typical break-ups and marissa finds another asshole who ruins her life..kaitlin might go into ryan..and the whole triangle starts..remember if marissa dies..many other characters discart like julie, jimmy…the only rEason they could stay was because of kaitlin..but Ryan goes to college..and thats where marissa comes in..if ryan goes to college all of the characters would be gone..seth, summer, sandy, kirstin, julie, jimmy, kaitling…the only hope was marissa..marissa began from the first episode to the last..marissa cant die..FRaNKLY this is whats gonna happen: if marissa didnt die..rates would go very veryyy up…so this is just a get-to-see 4th season…its likke that…oc wouldnt be oc if marissa left..she’s to important to leave..the oc would ROCKKK so much if she didnt diee..trust me..this is a get to see…marissa will go on

There is one way to think about it…if they hadn’t killed Marissa off, none of you would be here posting about it, and this page wouldn’t exist.
Believe it or not, killing off a main character actually brings in new viewers, and returns existing viewers. From a ratings standpoint, it is a great booster. From the show standpoint, and all of the loyal viewers, it just plain sucks.
I am a loyal The O.C. fan, and will miss Marissa very much, because she was such a huge part of the show. But, think of season 4 as the very first season of a brand new show…we will quickly fall in love with it again, just like we did the first time. Trust me guys, once we have mourned the loss of Marissa, we will recognize just how good The O.C. has gotten!
P.S: Start watching One Tree Hill, it is as good now as The O.C. was in season one. One Tree Hill is a great show!

I don’t think the OC will be the same without Marissa Cooper. The OC was made up of Marissa, Summer, Ryan and Seth, without them all together the show will just keep bringing more people in that don’t suit the show or go with the flow of the show and the OC will go down fast! I really hope that they just tried to make us all believe that Marissa died in the final episode and that she really didn’t. I hope that Marissa comes back…maybe she will be in a coma…that would make things interesting. But I really hope that’s not it for Marissa otherwise I think it will be it for the OC too.

I agree with “Yo Yo”…The OC will not work anymore now that Marissa is dead and everyone is going off to different Colleges. It won’t be the same OC anymore. So what are they going to write about now? They are propbably going to bring in a tonne of more characters to the show that don’t fit in and the show will be ruined! Man I am so mad, why would they kill Marissa off? They just ruined the show. And if it wasn’t the shows choice and it was Mischa’s choice then she just ruined the show for all of us!!

I am new here i have been reading the comments. I agree with dee, well i dont believe she is marissa’s cousins. But i know that dee gots the same information as me. i think that marissa will not be leaving the show because when you first acting for a show you have to sign a contract saying that you will be on the show for atleast 5 years and she has only been on it for like 3 years, on the other had i think that if she does leave then she broke the contract and i dont think that you are allowed to do that but if thats what she wants to do then she can but the show will not be the same without her because Ryan will be really upset for the longest time on the show and i hate seeing him sad because i think that they made the cutest couple ever and i dont want anything to change but if good happens and marissa is alive still i think that ryan will tell her how scared he was that he was gunna loose her and they will end up going back out and i will be the happiest person on earth because i am Ryan’s number one fan i love him with all my heart:>:>

Season 4 is gonna suck..like barely anyppl are gonna watch it. Its so not fair the oc is my life and with out marissa in it, i feel like dying. Thats the thing though, i read someone post up there that on the Fox website on the Fall line-up Mischa’s name isn’t there…So as much as i want to seny it, i think she is actually dead…and i just watched the last episode last night…I was in tears all night i swear…

The oc is my life. I look up to marissa and summer, I also think Johnny, Ryan, and Kevin are hot and marissa makes a cute couple with all 3. I hate luke tho. But i am pissed at Kevin for killing her. I hope Mischa’s character stays on the show, but if Josh said she is leaving, and she herself publicly announced it, and she is not listed as a character…common sense says she is gone! THe show will most likely suck, and it will lose viewers. Plus I heard fox only needs 16 more episodes!

Yes Marissa does die im from england and we saw the season 3 finale on E4 yeatarday night IT WAS HEARTBREAKING!!!!!!!! when the car crashes and marissa whispered to ryan not to leave her took a few last breaths and died in his arms all because of that STUPID VOLCHOK i knew he was bad news i feel so sorry 4 Ryan and summer cause nothing could slipt summer and marissa up (apart from this) and marissa was the love of ryan life. me and my m8s recorded it and keep marissas last moments its not fair im gonna SUE THE OC BOSSES!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well now they will have LESS viewers because the loyal fans of The O.C. will not watch when a main character has DIED. hey ppl did u hear about the teen choice awards taht mischa was nominated for best teen actress and teen hottie but josh cancelled the nomination becuz he didnt want her to win. Its on fox.com what a loser josh mischa deserves to win. OMG i am so pissed instead of mischa being nominated they nominated rachel bilson. I like her in all but mischa deserves it. I Live in Edmonton Alberta and the paper published a horrible article : Variety reports that when Fox renewed the Josh Schwartz-created drama The O.C. in May, it also decided to cut back its episodic commitment to the show. Fox has asked producer Warner Bros. TV for only 16 episodes — a substantial reduction from the 22 that’s standard for most returning series.
A Fox spokesman attributed the cutback to the net’s scheduling needs. The O.C. won’t have its season premiere until Nov. 2 — about a month after most Fox shows — and therefore, the reasoning goes, the network won’t need as many episodes in the can.
Nonetheless, even with the late start, Fox will be out of original The O.C. episodes by the end of February. The decent cost won’t also matter since Marissa Cooper played by Mischa Barton won’t be coming back for a fourth season.

According to a well-placed Gawp source, Marissa Cooper (Mischa Barton) may not have very long to live. It seems that producers have long been struggling with Mischa’s apathy towards the show, and acting in general (it was earlier reported that her character’s recent substance-binge was an attempt to reverse-engineer Mischa into method-acting). Since Mischa doesn’t want to be around, and the ratings are struggling, rumor has it Marissa will meet a tragic demise, either as part of a season-ending cliffhanger, or possibly even BEFORE the season is completed. Whatever the case, our source says there is ABSOLUTELY NO CHANCE that Mischa will be a part of the show by this time next year.
So….let’s start taking bets on how Marissa will meet her maker. Will the producers draw inspiration from Mischa’s own personal Poseidon Adventure to give Coop a watery Newpy Newps grave? Place your bets in the comments now.

I think the real story is that Mischa asked a price rice so the producers fired her even she was sorry. (Anyway I think she deserved it because she’s the best young actress of the show). The O.C. will sucks without Mischa’s character. The producers has been very stupid and ingrated with Mischa and all fans who love her and the show. The O.C. is nothing without Marissa Cooper. Mischa has no fault because she’s never wanted leave the O.C.
She is only 20 years old so she has all the life to make movies. She can’t be cared to be remembered only as Marissa Cooper because she has all the life to show her abilities in acting.
Anyway I think the most important actor’s mission is give emotions to the public, indipendently the character they impersonate.
The character of Marissa Cooper always gave me a lot of emotions so I hope Mischa will comes back to the show.
I hope the producers consider their illogical decision otherwise nobody will see the O.C. next season.

ok sorry everyone but she dies and i know this for a fact because one of my dad business clients is Mr. Hilton and there very good friend and every year my family goes to their christmas party and their gown party and paris and nicky attend them aswell. i was at the same table as paris and i asked her what shows she watched and one of them was the o.c. so i asked her if shee ever talked to mischa about the season finale and she said yes and that she had tlked to mischa about if she really died and mischa said ya my character is gone and the only time im comming back on the show is in the 2nd ep. as a ghost but thats it and she also told me she went to the season finale of the o.c. party and josh got really drunk and made a announcement that the reason he let mischa go without a fight wasnt bc he thought the show would do better, he knew the rating would go down without her but he wanted to the rating to go down and get kicked off fox bc josh wanted to make a new show and he was too busy concentrating on the o.c. he couldnt so he thought by letting mischa go he wouldnt have to make 6 seasons if he was kicked off the air. so everyone josh iss a jerk and wanted a nnew show instead of the o.c. sorry everyone SHES DEAD and we need to get over it!

i am the ocs number 1 fan adn i cried forever when i saw the season finale. But after doing many many researched my friend Roberto adn I decided that Marissa does die. It took me many days to get over taht fact. I am totally obsessed with this show, im getting an oc tattoo and im even making an oc scrap book this summer o and i made oc clothes too.
I kind of agree with Truth speaker except for the part that she knows Paris Hilton adn that she want to a party with her and i dont believe taht Josh got drunk adn announced those things about the oc. Becuz there would be alot of papperizzes there and teh story would be all over the place.
So truth speaker get a life, stop pretending u no famous ppl becuz u only wished u did.

It just kills me to hear that Micha is leaving the oc. She is my favourite actor. And the OC won’t be the oc without her. og my god, I think I’m going to cry.. Marissa need to be a part of the oc.. I’ts as simple as that. I really hope it’s just a joke. I hope that next season, we will see that she didn’t die afterall. Please let that be tha case. If not. i don’t know if I’m even going to watch the oc anymore. The oc IS Micha Barton as Marissa Cooper. And noone will ever be able to replace her..

i am a fan of all the characters in the o.c, not just one, but am a huge mischa fan, the o.c will never ever be the same without mischa and it will die away very quick, i heard in an interview that they kicked her off the show not that she left on her own, stupid decision guys the show will die along with marissa.. and as for kaitlyn cooper taking her place that will never happen her actor is to stuck up and fake….

In the September 2006 issue of Teen Vogue in the US, Mischa was the covergirl. They ran an article about her leaving the OC. According to her, it wasn’t her choice to leave the show. The writters killed her off because they needed a “Big Ending”; also, (again, according to her) they hit a brick wall with her character. Not too much Marissa hasn’t done. Will miss her though, guess we could always hope for a coma like Ryan’s brother in Season 2?

yah CJ we all she already dies i have seen the spoliers and scripts. She dies…and i already posted them on her and said they dont have a funeral they start 4 months after her dealth, and they are not bringing her back as a ghost and they are not bringing some one who looks like a ghost or they are not really doing the ghost thing its just gonna be flashbacks of marissa from the previous scenes but they are not for sure about it.
