Marissa leading a bad example?

by Arieanna on November 4th, 2005

Is Mischa’s character Marissa setting a bad example? After all, she has wealth and is drop dead gorgeous. Plus, she gets away with so much. No matter what she does, no harm comes to her.

Here is an opinion on just that:

On The OC, Mischa Barton’s character, Marissa, has a history of skipping her high school class and once had an alcohol problem. Despite her extensive social adventures, which include lesbian experimentation, she remains idealistic in the eyes of many viewers because of her good looks and her social status. Students interviewed seemed to enjoy watching characters that they can look up to. After all, it is everyone’s dream to be able to party hard and still have parents buy them Louis Vuitton purses and new Corvettes.

everythign stated is true, she has not been the best of examples for teenagers and she has got away with many things. However the beauty of it is the realization of makin a mistake and the will to change. In the last episdoes of The OC season 3 we witnessed a different Merissa, a Mwerissa that leavs the show as a happy girl with an almost perfect relationship with her mother, her sister, her friends, and ultimately her father (she once asked him to never come back, nad now she is going to him because she wants to spend time with him). Maybe it is everybodies dream to party like Merissa did, but i’m suere her many fans will also relate to the new Merissa.

The statment it’s true, except for the mean judgment of Marissa character. In high school teenagers have a huge changes for there lifes. Sometimes It’s overwhelming for the maturity of the age. In this moment their parents must be there for them doing what’s the best in all senses and in the way they think it’s better, even given them a Corvette, because it won’t last forever and in the mean time when things change those kids will get the meaning of everything that’s much more important than Chanel purse or a Corvette. That it’s just a toy for entertainment to give them time to grow up.
